Privacy policy
Roj Keyboard is a keyboard app for Android. This policy explains what happens with the text you type and the other information the app uses.
In short: what you type stays on your phone. The app does not send anything anywhere, has no ads, no analytics and no accounts, and it cannot connect to the internet.
The text you type
When you turn on a keyboard, Android warns that it may be able to collect all the text you type, including personal data such as passwords and credit card numbers. Android shows this warning for every keyboard. Roj Keyboard does not collect or send your text: it handles each key press on your phone and passes it to the app you are typing in.
The app has no permission to use the internet, so it cannot send anything from your phone.
Learned words
Words you type often are remembered so that they can be suggested. They are saved only in the app's private storage on your phone, and they are left out of Android's backups and transfers to a new phone. You can see them, remove single words or clear them all under Learned words in the app, and turn off learning new words under Text suggestions. Words are never learned in password, email address and web address fields, or when the app you type in asks for no personalized learning (such as a browser's private tab).
Photo themes
When you make a theme from a photo, the app keeps a copy of the photo in its private storage on your phone. The copy is left out of Android's backups and is removed when you delete the theme. The app only sees the photos you choose.
Settings
Your settings, such as the chosen languages, the theme and the emoji you used most recently, are saved on your phone. If you have turned on Android's backup, Android may include them in the backup to your Google account, as it does for other apps. The learned words and photo themes are never part of it.
Sharing the flag
When you tap the Kurdistan flag in the emoji panel, the keyboard draws the flag as a small picture on your phone and gives it only to the app you are typing in. In WhatsApp it is sent as a sticker. In apps that do not take pictures, or that would show it as a large photo (such as Viber), the flag is typed as emoji text instead. Hold the flag to choose yourself.
Children
The app collects no personal data from anyone, children included.
Changes and contact
If the app ever starts to handle data differently, this page will be updated first, with a new date below. Questions are welcome at support@rojkeyboard.com.
